The California city of Ross joins Tiburon to end tobacco and nicotine product sales permanently

Ross has become the second municipality in Marin County to ban the sale of any tobacco product.

The Town Council voted on Thursday to expand its anti-smoking code. Tiburon approved a similar ban earlier this month.

The Ross code aims to “ban the sale of all tobacco products,” a staff report said. Local high school students pushed for the ban.

“Nicotine use has become very common among students in my school and at many others,” Issack Cervera, a San Marin High School student, said during a public hearing. “It’s something we encounter every day, even if we’re not using it. Bathrooms that were once normal parts of school life have turned to places where students go to vape.”
