Tiburon passes ordinance to end the sales of tobacco and nicotine products permanently

Tiburon has become the first town in the nation to ban the sale of tobacco and tobacco-related products with no exemptions.

The Town Council, which gave the ordinance preliminary approval in October, gave it final approval on Wednesday. The ordinance will go into effect on Dec. 5.

Beverly Hills and Manhattan Beach implemented similar bans in 2021, but they allow limited exemptions.

“We all made history here tonight,” said Mayor Holli Thier.
